Hampshire and Somerset in action tonight at The Ageas Bowl – Paul Blake previews

Hampshire Hawks welcome Somerset in their second Vitality Blast game of the season at The Ageas Bowl tonight.

After a dissappointing result against Middlesex in the season opener on Friday, The Hawks will be looking to improve in all aspects of the game. Captain James Vince accepted his side’s shortcomings, “We perhaps didn’t do quite enough with the ball and were a bit sloppy in the field as well.”

Somerset will be a stiff test, having got off to a flying start in this year’s competition. The boys from the cider county have already beaten Kent and Essex ahead of tonight’s fixture at The Ageas Bowl.

Will Smeed has impressed with the bat for tonight’s visitors. With a T20 average of 30.8 and a strike rate above 130, the twenty-year-old right-handed batsman has started the season strongly. His knock of 58 against Essex on Sunday was a timely reminder of the young batsman’s talent.

The two teams last met on Finals Day with Somerset coming out on top in a tense semi-final. Ultimately, Somerset would go on to lose in the final against Kent Spitfires at Edgbaston. James’s Vince’s side will be looking for sweet revenge tonight.
