15/8 favourite, Forest Demon, came from the back of the field to win by a neck in The Nursery Handicap Stakes, over 7 furlongs at Kempton today. The 2-year-old Irish raider has raced three times before today and has made little impact in stakes races.
Turning to handicap races for the first time today, the speed demon, showed plenty of late speed and stamina to win relatively comfortably. Despite giving weight to both Pending Appeal and Uffington, the eventual winner seemed to have a little extra in reserve.
Rob Hornby’s mount may sneak under the radar of the BHA ratings team and I’ll be looking closely at just how severely he is penalised in next week’s ratings review.
