Jim Daly and Jason Ray are involved in a ding-dong battle at the top of the Suffolk Downs trainer standings with the lead changing hands almost daily. On Thursday morning, ‘Team Daly’ fired back with a treble after a quadruple for Ray on Tuesday and, at the time of writing Ray has already responded with three more winners on Friday morning.

Millview Black opened Daly’s account on Thursday morning with a straightforward victory, breaking quickly and leading all the way over 548m in Race 3. In the next race, Chanceme Dec railed superbly in the red jacket and powered to a convincing 1 3/4 length success over the same distance in (S2), justifying the favourite tag.

Meeling Road took the long way round in the striped jacket to win the 12:39 (A4) in an impressive 23.98, the quickest time of her career to date.

Elsewhere on the card, Roger York added two more to his win tally. Snowy Prince was the pick of his winners, leading the pack home in 23.65 (+10) secs, the quickest time of the day over the 388m track. The snow-white, blue and brindled puppy-dog ran his best time and looks good enough to win an (A2) at his next opportunity.
