Wendil Waves bye-bye to A7 grade after leaving highly rated Avongate Bergo in his wake at Henlow

Paul Blake reviews the best of Thursday morning’s greyhound action from Henlow.

Richard Devenish made it four wins on the card in sensational style at Henlow today. The pick of the bunch was arguably when Wendil Waves brutally annihilated some decent opposition in the 12:01 trial race at Henlow this morning.

Despite starting cautiously, the brindled dog showed plenty of early to squeeze through between the red and white jackets from box 2.

Avongate Bergo, in the stripes, took the long way around but never looked like catching the wave who ran on past the pond, around the final bend and on the run-in. Bergo last tasted victory at Towcester over 400m in A4 company.

The tide, it seems, is turning for Wendil Waves as he makes it back-to-back wins. The grader may have their work cut-out, placing this one next time out.

Victories in Race 1, Jogon Blue, Race 6, Wendil Waves, Race 9, Wendil Tiger, and Race 10, Wendil Magic gave Devenish an excellent quadruple on the card.

Despite having only two winners, Frank Gray will no doubt be delighted with the run of Makeit Storm in the 11:01 (IT). The blue bitch, in the blue jacket, shut the door on every bend to contain the 6/4 favourite, highly fancied Caseys Diva. In the last race of the meeting, Makeitforcharlie made it a double for Gray, making all and rewarding favourite backers.
