Industry stakeholder working group update

The greyhound industry stakeholder working group, which was formed as a result of an open letter to the GBGB calling for improvements in the sport, has secured its first meeting with the governing body.

The meeting will take place on May 13, and the group hopes it will be a chance to establish its position and schedule a series of further meetings to discuss each of the points on the letter in detail. Selected members of the working group will then attend those meetings based on availability, experience and skill set.

Since its last update, the group has added three new members – Brian Hough, an owner of 40 year’s standing; Claire Conley, an experienced owner, breeder and rearer; and track preparation and maintenance specialist Josh Sealey.

The working group now consists of (ordered by surname):

• Paul Blake, owner, editor – Greyhound Weekly
• Tony Brealey, owner, Coppice Racing
• Jade Browne, assistant trainer, Adachi Racing
• Claire Conley, owner/breeder/rearer
• Matt Dartnall, trainer/breeder
• Callum Field-Mullins, kennel hand
• Tom Heilbron, trainer
• Brian Hough, owner
• Kevin Hutton, trainer/breeder
• Nathan Hunt, trainer/breeder
• Phil Milner, trainer/breeder
• Josh Sealey, track preparation specialist
• George Sell, owner/syndicate manager

The group is also looking to establish a network of owners’ representatives from every track in the country. These reps will report the concerns of owners the length and breadth of the UK to a head rep, who will be a member of the working group, ensuring that owners’ views are represented in the discussions with the GBGB.
