Romeo in command at Towcester as last year’s champion is eliminated

Romeo Command recorded the fastest time in Round 3 of The English Greyhound Derby on Saturday night at Towcester. As a result, bookies have slashed his odds from 16/1 to 7/1. And for good reason. Patrick Janssens brindled dog has won all of his heats in a streak that has seen him beaten only once in fourteen outings, at an invitational event in April. Romeo Command’s run in Heat 3 was as emphatic, as it was surprising. Pinging the lids for the first time in this year’s Derby, he left the field in his wake to win by a comfortable 8 1/2 lengths.
